Background

My name is Christiana Ikegbo, a B.sc degree holder from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria. A one time Agro farm manager who keyed into the gospel of tech a couple of yes ago and now transitioning towards becoming a Product Manager. In the cause of my transitioning journey, I have gone ahead to acquire skills, train in PM boot camps, worked on both personal and group products to further strengthen my skill set and experiences. My previous roles as a farm manager, a virtual assistant and customer support specialist gave me a fast-paced growth as I am able to tailor my skills and experiences into building and managing great tech products. However, despite all of these skill sets and experiences, there was still a need to have a hands on experience of what it felt like to work on a real life product, collaborate with a cross-functional team and launch a life product. And this is the opportunity hotels.ng provided me. In the course of my internship with hotels.ng, I had the opportunity to manage a product from ideation to launch, worked with a team of other product mangers, software developers, designers, digital marketers and data analyst. The product we built is a dynamic web app that transcribes and summarises hours of youtube videos in seconds. Working on this product has further deepened my understanding of user experience, data analysis, competitive analysis, and market strategy. Having a real life application of all product management principles is an experience that's incomparable. In addition to all I learnt in the course of this internship, I learnt how to create tickets for designers, frontend devs and backend devs, created issues for GitHub, learnt how to use a new product management tool called linear, wrote business intelligence reported, drafted a business plan, created a comprehensive Feature requirement document and product requirement document and above all, learnt practical experience of stakeholder management. My technical, leadership and communication skills were also further sharpened. Going forward, I will be utilising all I learnt in the course of this internship to keep building products that solve real life problems and also hope to get a permanent role as a Product manager in a dynamic company where I can contribute to innovative solutions that exceed's company's goals.
